On our departure day, we made the last minute run to Target to pick up a few odds and ends for our trip. Top of the list, a roll of duct tape! We’ve all heard of how versatile the tape can be…and you never know when you might be in a jam, where a little duct tape just might be the answer to your prayers.
Well, we found our first use for duct tape on this trip while passing through Balestrand, Norway. It just happened to be my birthday and we stopped into the corner market to pick up a few things for dinner. We decided we would treat ourselves to a birthday beer! (We found alcohol to be crazy expensive in Norway!) In Norway, you buy beer by the can. Thus while Kevin was pulling a beer out of the fridge, the remaining beer in the package decided to take a tumble, hit the floor and spring a leak!
Kevin jumped into action, scooped up the beer, and applied pressure to the pin-size hole, smack dab in the middle of the can. If he removed pressure, the beer would spray everywhere! We quickly made our way through the store, picking up our remaining items and making our way to the checkout. The checkout clerk was quite puzzled by Kevin’s unwillingness to place the can on the conveyor, but somehow we managed to convey that there was a hole in the can and it was our fault.
Once we left the store, Kevin cracked open the beer to reduce the pressure from the inside. (Not to mention, the help with the cramp he had developed in his hand). Back at the hotel, we pulled out the duct tape and sealed the side of the can, and all was well again! Cheers to duct tape!
